ICOM IP-M60 Hybrid LTE/Marine VHF Radio
ICOM IP-M60 Hybrid LTE/Marine VHF Radio
Icom UK is proud to announce the release of the IP-M60 Hybrid Marine VHF/LTE radio, a ground breaking innovation in maritime communication. This device is specifically designed to cater to the ever-changing needs of maritime professionals. By combining the reliability of traditional VHF communications with the versatility of 4G LTE connectivity, the IP-M60 ensures seamless communication both on land and at sea.
The Icom IP-M60 seamlessly integrates two modes of communication into a single handheld device: VHF marine and 4G LTE. VHF marine is widely used for communications and maritime safety worldwide, while 4G LTE technology allows for long-distance calls within a cellular coverage area. This means that the IP-M60 can be utilised in various maritime settings such as offshore operations, ports, rivers, container ports, and harbour authorities. It is also invaluable in scenarios where coordination with search and rescue agencies or the operation of yacht regattas is necessary.
This state-of-the-art device offers a robust communication solution for maritime operations. With its dual-mode operation, users can simultaneously operate both VHF and LTE modes, allowing for uninterrupted communication with both types of users. This capability proves invaluable in remote or challenging environments, ensuring that users can monitor and communicate freely using the main and sub-PTT functions.
ICOM IP-M60 Modes
Four operating modes
Mode 1: Cellular (LTE) Mode
When operating in Cellular mode, users communicate via the carrier’s LTE (or 3G) network. Calls are possible anywhere within the carrier’s coverage area. Moreover, Simultaneous TalkListen™ enables full-duplex communication in Cellular mode, allowing users to engage in conversations where they can talk and listen simultaneously, similar to a traditional telephone call.
Mode 3: Cellular (LTE) + Marine Mode
The Cellular and Marine modes can be utilised concurrently, allowing for simultaneous reception and mixed audio. By using the PTT buttons for Main and Sub-mode, users can easily select the communication mode assigned to each with a single touch. This enables quick selection of the communication mode without the need to switch modes. Additionally, simultaneous transmission on both channels is achievable by pressing the PTT buttons for the Main and Sub-mode simultaneously.
Mode 2: Marine Mode
This mode works as a VHF marine radio that has the same functions and performance as conventional VHF marine radios, such as Icom IC-M25 or IC-M25EURO. VHF Marine is used to ensure the safety of marine traffic between vessels or vessel-to-coast stations.
Mode 4: Relay Mode - Transfers Received Audio to Another Mode
The Relay Mode transfers received marine audio to the IP radio group, vice versa. When the IP-M60 is used in the Relay Mode, no received voice is heard from the speaker. * The Relay function may be prohibited in some countries.
